AC-IDD-10
Create and dimension single view drawings while applying geometric construction.
10.1 Produce geometric shapes such as straight lines, geometric angles, plane figures, circles and arcs, and irregular geometric figures.
10.2 Demonstrate geometric construction techniques given size, orientation, and location specifications.
10.3 Apply center lines to drawings in correct size and location.
10.4 Apply correct dimensioning procedures.

In Unit 5 we learned the advanced operations of AutoCAD. Some of these operations include center lines, center layer, snap to endpoint, extend, fillet, polyline, offset, explode, and join. We met these standards in Unit 5.1 and 5.2 by doing drawings to practice the skills we learned. In Unit 5.1 we did 4 drawings and in 5.2 we did 8. This unit taught me many things that were very important in learning how to use AutoCAD. The drawings forced us to use all of the operations that we learned. This has a real world application because we are learning the basics of software that will be what we use if we get a job in this field. I plan to use these skills to learn even more advanced skills in this software. After this unit I plan to use some of the skills to practice some more drawings so I can get better and do these things much faster.
The basic commands used by professionals are Dynamic Input, Tangent Lines, Object Snap, Grid and Snap Layout, Object Snap, Draw Toolbar, Trim Command, Tangent Circles, and Modify Toolbar. We were assigned to do different drawings using AutoCAD. We had instructional videos to learn new commands so we could do the rest of the drawings in the book. We made a total of 9 drawings over the time we did units 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3. We learned how to use the commands listed in the first sentence. Some of the commands are still tricky, but with the help of the instructional videos and my partners. This unit was fun because we got to learn new things about the software. This has been my favorite unit because we got to draw lots of different things. My favorite drawing was a drawing of the letter C. The most difficult drawing to me was a drawing of the letter V. My favorite command to use is tangent circles because I think it is amazing that the points touch exactly on one spot. This is cool because we couldn’t draw a circle that’s points touch two other circles on one point.
