Identify components related to the architectural design process. 2.1 Describe the elements and principles of design. 2.2 Research historical architectural styles. 2.3 Explain the steps in the design process. 2.4 Analyze building sites. 2.5 Identify and summarize elements of sustainable design. 2.6 Interpret considerations of universal design. How I Met These Standards 你好, I met these standards by researching online to learn about these topics. 2.1 The elements of design are what make up a design. They are lines, shape, direction, size, texture, color, and value(lightness or darkness of color). The principles of design are how we apply the elements of design. They are balance, gradation, repetition, contrast, harmony, dominance, and unity. 2.2 Architecture has an interesting history that dates back to the first civilizations. It shaped cultures in the past and continues to today. The styles include Neolithic, Ancient Egyptian, Ancient Greek, Ancient Roman, Medieval, Gothic, Hindu, Islamic, Romanesque, Traditional Japanese, Renaissance, Victorian, Romantic, Classical, Modern, Prairie Style, and Bay Area Regional. 2.3 The design process is... 1. Define- define the problem 2. Collect- collect information 3. Brainstorm- brainstorm and analyze ideas 4. Develop- develop solutions and build a test model 5. Feedback- present your ideas to other for feedback 6. Improve- improve on your design 2.4 Analyzing a site is important and very detailed. To do this you must look for land forms, adjacent properties, wind, ground conditions, location of council and utility services, and site access. To do this, you must take a sketch book, compass, camera, tape measure, Scala penetrometer, and a stepladder. 2.5 Elements of sustainable design are meeting the needs of the present without compromising, the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. They are site evaluation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, water efficiency, waste management, material selection, and education. 2.6 Universal design (barrier-free design) are buildings that can be used for all people. This is a term used more with people with disabilities ability to access a building. An example of a building would be a public library because it is accessible to all. (It has ramps, braille, etc.) Real World Applications These concepts of design are extremely important to architects because it is their job. These standards are the components of design. Since I want to become an architect later on in life, I need to learn this and know how to apply it. Future goals My future goals related to these standards include learning more about design, especially the styles. This will help me design better homes in the future. 王龙 Jacob Walker
